Did You Watch?

We’re a week into Black History Month (wink - every day is Black history in the making) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with their all Black coordinators, did the damn thing! Oh and let us not forget the two female coaches…What? Bruce you’re all right with me.

I thought this year’s Super Bowl was going to be another ho hum game with Tom Brady, just kidding, don’t @ me. But, after boycotting last year’s game, I wasn’t expecting much especially with the halftime show. I typically show up for the good eats and entertaining commercials. However, I do miss the gathering of friends and family talkin’ shit and taking bets on the big winner.

Sunday’s game was pretty good since my guy scored - Mama going shopping, thanks babe! Nah, I actually enjoyed seeing Brady in his GOAT-like element (debatable); Gronk doing it one more time; AB making headlines outside of domestic disturbances; and Playoff Lenny coming alive.

H.E.R. and Jazmine Sullivan were great, but I thought Black entertainers were over the NFL. Did I miss something? What happened to the “I’m good love, enjoy” or “I’m good Bruh?” I think I enjoyed the memes better than the Weekend’s performance regardless of how much of his own money was spent. It was just, different. Speaking of different, did anybody else see the number of people in Florida without masks? Just ridiculous, we ain’t never getting rid of the Rona.

Because many (non-Black) are acknowledging Blackness this month, I want to make sure I do my part with a “teaching moment.” So, speaking on the Super Bowl did you know hat Doug Williams was the first and Black QB to win a Super Bowl? He led the Washington Redskins to victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII (for those too young to remember, the year was 1988). He attended a Grambling, a historically black college and was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 1978 draft. Williams has held a number of titles in his football career that has span over 40 years. He currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Washington Football Team president.

Now that the big game has come and gone, I can’t wait to see how NBA All-Star weekend is going to pan out. ATL what it do? Did I mention that we ain’t never getting rid of the Rona, lol?
